Bleed reads only public Instagram profile data, the same way any analytics tool does. You type your handle and confirm it's yours. That's the whole connection. We never see your password, never get a login session, and the architecture literally cannot post on your behalf or trigger an Instagram security alert against your account.
By comparing snapshots. Every scan walks the live follower list and diffs it against the list from your previous scan. Accounts present last time but missing now are flagged as unfollows. The whole history accumulates on your device, so Bleed is essentially building a per-day follower timeline you can scroll through.
On your iPhone. Bleed's backend never stores follower lists, diffs, or snapshots. It only stores your identity (an anonymous API key tied to your handle) and the cached profile counts that show up on the dashboard. Your follower timeline never leaves the device. Uninstall the app and that data is gone with it.
Yes. Bleed+ tracks up to 5 accounts side by side. They need to be public (private accounts aren't readable from the outside). Useful for couples watching each other's accounts, talent managers tracking clients, or anyone with a personal and business account split.
Only if the account is temporarily switched to public during a scan. There's no session-based fallback because Bleed never logs in. If you want to scan your own private account, flip it public for the scan, then flip it back. The data Bleed reads is the same data anyone on the internet can see in your absence; we're just summarizing it.
Once a day is plenty for most accounts. Bleed enforces a 12-hour cooldown per target to keep API costs reasonable; the dashboard's scan button shows a countdown when you're inside that window. There's no auto-refresh. Every scan is a deliberate gesture, which keeps the cost model predictable.
Three things. Tracking up to 5 accounts instead of 1. Scanning accounts up to 5,000 combined followers and following (the free tier scans up to 1,000). Unlocking the deeper insight lists — Lost Followers, Not Following Back, Verified, Private, and Mutuals. The free tier is genuinely usable; Bleed+ is what you upgrade to when you want more accounts or bigger ones.
Not yet. Real-time unfollow notifications would require a server-side process re-scanning every user every few hours, which isn't economically viable at current per-scan costs. What Bleed does send to free users: a quiet daily reminder to scan, and a notification when your 12-hour cooldown lifts. Subscribers get zero engagement notifications by design.
